Wisdom shared is wisdom preserved 💎
In the heart of the ancient city of Varanasi, the Pāṇini Kanyā Mahāvidyālaya (Panini College for Girls) is preserving timeless wisdom in a distinctly modern way — through offering comprehensive Sanskrit and Vedic education to girls and young women, who historically have been excluded from the study of traditional Sanskrit knowledge systems like grammar, medicine, and philosophy.
⠀
ACIP celebrates the energy and vitality of centers for traditional learning like this in India. The Pāṇini College for Girls is a shining example of traditional knowledge systems and methods coming together with contemporary sensibilities and attitudes.
⠀
As Sanskrit pandits break with tradition to share their expertise with a new generation of women scholars, the survival of this extraordinary heritage is secured. ACIP seeks to support knowledge traditions like these in the same spirit of bringing together old and new, preserving traditions so they can continue to thrive.
